I Love Cooking but There is a Dark Side…..

I’m a foodie who loves cooking, I have since I was seven, so what is this dark side you ask? Well I will be honest there are somethings about cooking I hate. Just like people who write probably don’t like paper cuts. The same as the work and hours that goes into a masterpiece, there is preparation to do to create a great meal.

I use carrots in many of my meals, they are colorful, nutritional, and flavorful, however I hate cutting carrots, the peeling, they are hard to cut in half cause of the shape, they are just not fun to cut. Now you would think onions would be on this list, they make you eyes water right? Nope, I have a technique for cutting onions and there not hard to cut through. Now on to potatoes they are not that hard to cut but yams are , I know they are two different vegetables but they are similar nonetheless. Try cutting a yam with a migraine, its like a hammer to the head each time the knife comes down. I know what you are saying why are you cooking with a migraine, if I can go to work with a migraine surely I can make a meal, I mean cooking is my craft.

Now this last one  is not really one I hate it is more tedious and it’s just not my favorite thing to do, but I do it, because as a foodie I love appetizers. But having to wrap and fold each one individually,  not the first thing I want to do in the kitchen. Although when its time to eat them they are delicious and I then I am glad I made them. Go figure my love of cooking supersedes even the darkest corners of cooking. Now if you don’t like cooking you probably have a larger dark side. Remember whether you love or hate cooking, once you get through those things that you loath, on the other side is a wonderful meal you can be proud of or at lest feel good about when you bring it to the table.
