What does it matter what drives your hunger, if you are hungry, you’re hungry. However, I was thinking there are two sides, good and bad to either way of eating. If you eat to live, that could mean that you eat whatever taste good enough to get down your throat, so that you can get on with your day. Or it could mean that you find nourishing foods to eat when you are hungry but it is not the highlight of your day.
On the other hand if you live to eat it could mean you eat anything that’s good all the time with no care to its quality. Or it could mean that you enjoy foods, the different tastes and textures, that you like to sit down to a good quality meal, that is nourishing and pleases the palate. Now me, I am the latter. I admittedly love food and will discuss food with anyone, but I don’t eat all the time and I don’t eat just anything. I do like to try new foods, especially from different cultures. I enjoy making new dishes and trying new ingredients.
I see things at the market or in a magazine and it sparks a new recipe or I smell good food and images float in my head of various meals. I know I sound a bit dreamy, but when you have a passion, you have a passion, food is mine. Like my mom said since I was three if you can’t find her, look for the food and she will be there. Oddly enough buffets are not my favorite, I don’t eat that much to spend that amount of money, but that was just a side bar. Lol!! But really when you think about your food and why you eat, what you eat, what is you motivation behind it, besides filling you belly? Learn to delight in your food, the smell, the flavor, the texture, then ask yourself: what drives your hunger?
