Love Your Food, Love Yourself, Love those Closest to You

I know you are wondering, what loving yourself and those closest to you has to do with food. Well think about this who do you share a meal with, most often it is those nearest to you or by yourself. Also consider this if you love yourself, then would’t you think twice about what you put in you body. If you care about what you put in your body, most likely you care about what you put in the body of those most important to you.

So why should you love your food? True food is supposed to nourish your body, but why not delight in the experience of nourishing your body. Savor the various textures and flavors that the feast provides. Appreciate the colors of the ingredients , there are so many different shades of vegetables, just look at peppers, I mean they have purple carrots for peats sake! When creating your meals think about what provisions may go well together, what seasonings might go with them and what type of meals you desire. If you have a hard time picking spice combos (don’t go to salt!) try different fares of flavorings, such as Italian, you could do basil, oregano, thyme, and parsley or Indian, you could do turmeric, garam masala, cinnamon, and cumin. But experiment with different herbs and aromatics, so when the food gets to the table you do LOVE your food!

Now for those in your life that you spend the most time with, I am sure you share many dishes together, and those are meaningful times. That’s a time to share your day, your dreams, funny stories, and to enjoy the cuisine. When you go shopping to pick up the groceries, picks items that are fun, nourishing, and appealing to your palate. So love your food, make it tasty, love yourself and what you put in your body, and love those you spend the most time, love the conversation, the laughter and the wonderful spread before you.
